The Essence of the Project
In the vibrant heart of Florence, within the prestigious Floren Luxury Hotel on Via Panzani, lies Osmo Cucina, a restaurant that is much more than a simple dining space. The name, which in Ancient Greek means “sense of smell” and “scent,” foreshadows the philosophy of a place where every material and sensory detail is designed to offer an immersive experience. For this project, the client Due Torri srl entrusted the artistic direction to architects Ilaria Sassolini and Florenzo Capogrosso, who skillfully orchestrated the spaces to create an elegant and contemporary environment, in harmony with the refined and innovative cuisine of Chef Marco Anselmi.
The Creative Concept
The design inspiration stems from the desire to create a dynamic and welcoming space that reflects the versatility of the restaurant, which is active from breakfast until late at night. The architects envisioned an environment with an intimate yet vibrant atmosphere, where the expressive power of natural materials becomes the true protagonist. The skillful use of marble is not only functional but defines the aesthetic identity of the venue, ideally dividing the different functional areas (main dining room, bar counter, and service area) into a single fluid visual narrative, capable of blending Florentine tradition with a modern and international taste.
The Selection of Materials
The material palette chosen for Osmo Cucina enhances the contrast between matte and glossy surfaces, and bold and neutral colors. Pietre di Rapolano managed the supply of all the marbles, which were custom-made for the bespoke furnishings.
Flooring: A solid and dramatic base in Nero d’Oriente Marble, with a sandblasted and brushed finish that enhances its natural texture, installed in standard-sized tiles.
Wall Coverings: The walls are embellished with Verde Guatemala Marble, whose intense color evokes nature and creates a pleasant dialogue with the greenery and artisanal details that characterize the room.
Service Counters: Custom-made in Bianco Carrara Marble, a timeless classic that brings purity and brightness to the operational areas.
Bar Counter: The focal point of the restaurant, entirely custom-clad in Verde Guatemala Marble, which reappears as a distinctive element of continuity, immediately capturing the eye.
